Millions of children around the world are growing up in orphanages and foster care. Many lose hope as they wait for families that never come. Every child needs a connected caring relationship with a stable adult to grow and thrive.
In the last eight years 104 children have found permanent families through this same program in Montana and Idaho and more than 2,000 have found hope through similar national programs.
The Summer of Hope ministry brings older orphans (ages 8-15) from various countries to the U.S. during July to experience family life, fun, and love with a Christian host family, and give them hope for their future. The organization helps the children meet Christian families in the Treasure Valley and elsewhere who often end up adopting, mentoring, or staying connected to them for life.
The Summer of Hope is administered by The Sacred Portion Children's Outreach
, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable organization.
Christian families are invited to open their hearts and homes to host a school-age child during the month of July through Summer of Hope. Your kindness can change a child’s life.
Boise's Summer of Hope program is seeking loving Christian families who want to give these school-age children their greatest desire: a “forever family.” Without a family to guide and protect them, a future of predators, prostitution, and/or destitution awaits most of them. Their “Summer of Hope” can become a lifetime of hope and love with a family to call their own.
If this is not a season in your life for hosting or adopting, but you would still like to help the orphans find permanent, loving, Christian homes, please consider getting involved with Summer of Hope. As an individual or church body, there are financial and/or volunteer opportunities that can help in unimaginable ways! If God is nudging you in this area—please listen! We’d love to hear from you!
A family-friendly fund-raising event, immediately followed by a celebration picnic, children's carnival, Christian band, and entertainment. Funds raised through the Run/Walk. pay for the orphans' traveling expenses for their summer visit, as well as the travel expenses of required social workers who accompany the children for safety, accountability, and translation purposes. Donated funds may also be used for the interest-free Summer of Hope Adoption Assistance Loan Program to help families pay for some of the adoption costs. These loans are to be repaid and used to bring more orphans for summer visits.
All ages are invited to form teams, collect donations, make donations and walk in honor of a child who needs a family, or in celebration of a child who has been adopted. Anyone can participate regardless of age or ability. This is an untimed, family-friendly Fun Run and Walk. Register before May 15th to guarantee a T-shirt.
